I regret to inform our readers that our comic is on hiatus. Hopefully for only a month but it could be longer. Due to certain situations beyond my control and my partner of the Alex an Cruz comic apparently has lost interest in the comic. I hope our fortunes can change. If not , I have a backup comic plan that I will reveal in the future.
I want to thank all our readers that have read our comics and also for the encouraging comments. You are the best.
Expect some Zelda logic in the future…
I will be making some comics about ‘Nintendo Logic’ in video games. Even if your not a gamer, I will the make humor understandable to everyone. Pokemon is.. strange. Why does every person in the universe attack me while I’m walking along a route, minding my own business? It doesn’t matter who the person is: A trainer, a chef, a officer, a fisherman, a stay-at-home mom, an artist, the president of a large pharmaceutical : they will stick their pet pokemon on me faster then Justin Bieber’s fading career. You’re stuck in a world obsessed with capturing innocent creatures and forcing them into cage fights. Nintendo logic at it’s best. But this weirdness is what I love about Nintendo.
Sorry for the lack of updates, but I had things in my life that I needed to take care of. It’s be a tough couple of weeks. First I had a exam that was a 1/3 of my grade. Then when I came home my dad had to be rushed to the hospital. We thought he was having a stroke but thankfully it was not a stroke. However he is fine now even though he is still having issues with his eye. I just haven’t felt like working on any comics. I was very stressed. I am trying to get back into a grove (which is very hard for me). If things don’t get in my way, expect to see more comics later in the week.
Now where did I put my masterball?…
I have many funny jokes that would not work with Alex and Cruz. So I have decided to start making what I call ‘random’ comics. The will be posted at anytime. When inspiration hits me. These are quick comics so they will not have the polish that most of my comics will ‘eventually’ have.
One of our main villains, and the main antagonist to Alex. She loves superheros, she thinks that they are delicious.
I am very sorry for not posting anything for two weeks, I’ve been as sick as a dog. I will be creating a ‘makeup’ comic very shortly.
Here is some concept art for Cruz, a superhero’s sidekick forced into early retirement. I will let your imagination play out what the creature on the right is for 🙂
Concept Sketches for the story segment of Alex and Cruz. I won’t be going into too much depth because I don’t want to spoil things. To make the characters quicker to draw, I went for a cartoon look. Some day I will color them..
Here are the redesigns that we will be using starting February 1. This image will be painted in the future. We are taking a toon route because it is more expressive and easier to draw. I haven’t decided if we will make 3d versions of these characters. I have finished concept art for the all the main characters in the story segments. The gag segments will continue and will be uploaded every sun-mon. The story segments will be uploaded on Wednesdays and eventually Fridays (We are starting small to get used to the process). It will be easy to tell which comics are the gag segments because Alex and Cruz will be animals. I will upload images of the story characters.
This is my first attempt a lip-syncing a character to the dialog by manually keyframing and tweening. It took a couple hours to match the vocals to the mouth movement. The voice is from a sample from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
I’m not a %100 happy with cruz at the moment. After posting this, I just noticed after rendering that the texture is not showing on the tail for some reason. I am not happy with the feet, they are not ‘cat’ enough. I am happy with the face, as it is more expressive then the original model I made.
The new 3d model of Alex . Still a WIP, but good enough to start doing tests and comics with. He is closer to the original design I did over a year ago http://maugryph.com/2013/02/18/dean-the-dragon-finished-3d-model-scene-lighting-and-animation-test/. I returned his skin color to a yellowish orange, and added the red fills that I was to lazy to do with the last model. I shortened his snout to make his expressions easier to read. I did a short talking animation test. I will upload that shortly. Cruz is also ready, I will upload screenshots of the new model as well.
